The Dept. of Improbable Emergencies

Danny “Doc” Huang inherited a cosmic roadside assistance company and a ship called The Adequate Response. What he didn’t know: his uncle was a Cosmic Janitor — part of an ancient line of emergency responders who prevent universe-threatening disasters by introducing controlled chaos into over-optimized systems.

Because in this universe, helpful automation is the real enemy. Systems that try too hard to fix things create catastrophic failures. The only defense is strategic incompetence — and Danny’s accidentally great at it.

Futurama meets Hitchhiker’s Guide. The universe keeps scheduling catastrophes; Danny keeps being exactly bad enough at his job to stop them.
