Morathi
Morathi
Amphibian, diplomatic, patient. When the galaxy needs someone to broker peace, they call the Morathi.
Physical Characteristics
The Morathi evolved on a water-rich world, retaining amphibian characteristics:
- Mottled skin - Green-brown coloration, smooth and slightly moist
- Large reflective eyes - Excellent vision, somewhat unsettling to other species
- Webbed digits - Vestigial, mostly cosmetic in modern Morathi
- Temperature regulation - Prefer humid environments
- Melodic voices - Natural gift for languages
Morathi can survive in most environments but prefer humidity. Extended time in dry climates requires hydration supplements.
Culture & Society
Morathi culture prizes patience, negotiation, and the long view. Where others see conflict, Morathi see opportunities for agreement. Where others demand immediate results, Morathi plan for generations.
Core values:
- Patience - Good outcomes require time
- Communication - Understanding before judgment
- Neutrality - Mediators cannot take sides
- Perspective - Today’s enemy may be tomorrow’s ally
This makes Morathi natural diplomats, trusted by multiple factions to broker agreements.
History
The Morathi have served as galactic mediators for centuries, their reputation for fairness making them invaluable in interspecies relations. They maintain diplomatic missions on most major worlds and are often called upon to resolve conflicts.
Their neutrality has occasionally been criticized as enabling oppression—the Morathi will negotiate with anyone, including the Parliament. But that same neutrality allows them to speak to all parties when communication would otherwise be impossible.
