The Acus'Rube
The Acus’Rube
Robert’s ship. Home base. The only place the crew can truly relax.
Overview
Originally salvaged from uncertain origins, the Acus’Rube has been modified, upgraded, patched, and held together through Ma’Tak’s engineering genius and sheer stubborn refusal to acknowledge impossible odds.
The ship found Robert on Mool—or Robert found it—when he was fleeing for his life. It has been home ever since.
History
The Acus’Rube was discovered in an abandoned shipyard on Mool. When Robert stumbled upon it while evading SLPS forces, the ship was a “battered old freighter” with a mysterious “star with six sharp points” logo on its hull.
The interior was dark, cramped, and smelled of disuse. It required extensive repairs before it could fly. Ace guided Robert through those initial repairs despite Robert having no engineering knowledge.
What the ship was before, who owned it, and why it was abandoned—these questions remain unanswered.
Modifications
Under Ma’Tak’s supervision (and with parts salvaged from other vessels), the Acus’Rube has been transformed:
- FTL Fold-Drive - Upgraded for longer jumps, more reliable translation
- Transponder Spoofing - Essential for survival as a wanted ship
- Stealth Systems - Reduced detection profile
- Weapons - Defensive armaments added post-acquisition
- Living Quarters - Expanded to accommodate the growing crew
Key Areas
Cockpit
Where Ace interfaces with ship systems. Robert’s command chair faces the primary viewport, with tactical displays arrayed around the pilot’s station.
Common Area
The heart of the ship. A table where the crew shares meals, plans operations, and argues about strategy. Scratched consoles worn through to bare metal. The map of their revolution.
Engineering
Ma’Tak’s domain. A chaos of tools, spare parts, and ongoing projects that somehow results in the ship continuing to function.
Crew Quarters
Individual bunks that have become personalized over time. Each crew member has made their space their own.
Significance
The Acus’Rube is more than a ship. It’s the crew’s only constant—the one place in the galaxy where they are safe, together, and home.
Everything they’ve built, every plan they’ve made, every moment of rest between crises—all of it centered on this battered freighter that refuses to give up.
““She’s not pretty, but she’s ours.”
