Zmetek Beta Station
Zmetek Beta Station
Neutral station on the edge of lawful space. A haven for smugglers, pirates, and anyone who prefers minimal questions.
Overview
Zmetek Beta Station exists in the gaps of Confederation authority—technically within their jurisdiction, practically beyond their reach. The station was built from salvaged ship hulls and abandoned modules, growing organically as new sections were added.
No single authority controls Zmetek Beta. Instead, various factions maintain their territories, and a rough peace is enforced through mutual self-interest. Violence is bad for business, and business is all that matters.
Key Features
Main Marketplace
Sprawling bazaar where legitimate and black market goods mix freely. Rix, the Kylaxian shopkeeper, is a reliable contact for those who know to ask.
Docking Bays
Capacity for dozens of vessels. No questions about registration, transponders, or cargo—as long as docking fees are paid.
Neutral Zones
Areas where business is conducted safely. Weapons are checked at the door. Deals are struck under watchful eyes.
Faction Territories
Different sections controlled by different groups. The Kroptsovian Collective holds one territory. Other factions claim others. Boundaries shift with power.
Significance
For Robert, Zmetek Beta represents the infrastructure of resistance. Ships can be repaired without records. Supplies can be acquired without questions. Information can be bought from those who collect it.
But the station’s neutrality is fragile. Confederation pressure is increasing. Eventually, Zmetek Beta will have to choose a side.
